Lorenz Pasion is a researcher at Rappler and a member of its fact-check team that debunks false claims that spread on social media. He also writes about the environment and economy.
He obtained his journalism degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2022. During his third year in college, he co-produced Biyaya ng Musmos, a multi-media report on teenage pregnancy that won 3rd place in the 2021 Philippine Journalism Research Conference Special Projects category in May of the same year.
In the same month, he joined Rappler as a fact-check volunteer and stayed as a Rappler fact-check intern for two internship cycles until January 2022.
He became a Rappler researcher right after he completed his second internship cycle. He slso assisted in Rappler's coverage of the 2022 Philippine elections.
Lorenz has also been a volunteer fact-checker of the Knight Science Journalism of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 2021.
When he’s off work, he usually plays online games or watches Netflix series. He’s also interested in astronomy and loves gazing at the night sky every time he has the chance to do so.
