MANILA, Philippines – Collegiate “debate season” is in full swing as the 6th Luzon Intervarsity (LIV) kicks off this September 13-15 at the University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Laguna.

The LIVs is a debate tournament held in the British Parliamentary (BP) format. Since 2008, it has provided a competitive debate arena for the Philippine debate community in preparation for the National Debate Championship (NDC), the official national tournament in BP format. The Parliament: UPLB Debate Society continues to be the tournament’s host.

With over 300 participants registered this year, LIV is currently the biggest debate intervarsity tournament in the Philippines. The tournament also expands its horizons as it welcomes more debate teams and adjudicators from institutions not just from Luzon, but also from Visayas and Mindanao. Foreign composite teams and judges from different regions across Asia will also be competing.
