This is a press release from Civil Engineering Executive Organization.

2020 has brought up challenges in the Philippines, and even worldwide: from the eruption of Taal Volcano to the outbreak of the coronavirus disease, popularly known as COVID-19. These instances have highlighted the Philippines’ susceptibility to disasters and the need for actions to minimize it.

Civil engineering Executive Organization (CEO), a duly recognized academic organization in the University of the Philippines Los Baños based in the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, will be holding an Engineering Congress that will be both conducive for the current situation and insightful to disaster risk management.

Engineering Congress 2021 is a national annual event composed of the Engineering Seminar and the Executives’ Challenge, which cater to the theme “Reinforcing Frameworks: Strengthening the Philippine Structures and Complexes Through Engineering Integration, Smart Planning and Optimizing Advanced Technology Towards Sustainable Development” on March 13.

The Engineering Seminar is a national forum, free for all engineering students and people from the academe. It features distinct speakers from various companies and organizations who will share their expertise on their respective fields of engineering.

Following the protocols regarding mass gatherings due to the pandemic, the seminar will take place online, via Facebook live on the official Facebook page Engineering Congress

For the Executives’ Challenge, this year CEO will hold the first ever CAD Edition, a national intercollegiate competition that aims to exhibit computer-aided design skills of students from different universities in the country.

Moreover, CEO is collaborating with Citizens’ Disaster Response Center (CDRC), a non-governmental organization aiming to promote community-based disaster management in the Philippines, to advocate sustainable development.

In relation to this, a donation drive will be taking place throughout the Engineering Congress for CDRC’s benefit, to pursue their goals in responding to disasters experienced by vulnerable sectors such as children, women, elderly, and differently abled.

To send donations, reach out to Engineering Congress’ official Facebook page, or contact and coordinate with Giennan Marco Antonio, through gfantonio2@up.edu.ph or 0912 990 6883.
