MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has moved the deadline for prequalified bidders to prepare their proposals for the P35.4-billion Cavite-Laguna expressway (Calax) project.

DPWH undersecretary Rafael Yabut, who chairs the agency’s special bids and awards committee for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects, extended the deadline in a Supplemental Bid Bulletin.

Four bidders have been prequalified for the 47-kilometer closed-system tolled expressway. These are the Ayala-led Team “Orion,” Metro Pacific Investment’s Corporations’ MPCALA Holdings Inc., Malaysia’s Alloy MTD Philippines, and Optimal Infrastructure Development Inc of San Miguel Corporation.

The Calex would connect the South Luzon expressway (SLEX) and the Manila-Cavite Tollroad expressway (Cavitex). It would have a concession period of 35 years, including a 4-year design and construction phrase. – Rappler.com
