The first SM mall in Zamboanga City will be opening its doors to shoppers on Friday, November 27.

Offering almost 38,000 square meters of retail space, SM City Mindpro will have popular stores such as the SM Store, SM Supermarket, Uniqlo, Sports Central, Watsons, SurPlus, Ace Hardware, and BDO.

Located along La Purisima Street in the downtown area, the new mall will also have SM Cinema, Cyberzone, and other food and fashion establishments.

SM Prime president Jeffrey Lim assured Zamboangueños that safety protocols will be implemented.

“The easing of quarantine protocols in various areas in the country has led to the reopening of businesses that will help our economy bounce back quicker,” Lim said.

“We hope that through SM City Mindpro, which provides a center of convergence for economic, social, and cultural activities, Zamboangueños will experience utmost convenience as they seek essential services as well as entertainment during these times.”

SM City Mindpro is the 7th SM mall in Mindanao.

SM Prime started expanding in Mindanao with SM City Davao in 2001, followed by SM City Cagayan de Oro in 2002, SM City General Santos and SM Lanang Premier in 2012, SM CDO Downtown in 2017, and SM City Butuan, just recently, in early November.

SM Prime reported a P14.4-billion consolidated net income in the first 9 months of the year, 48% lower than the P27.6 billion it earned last year, as the coronavirus pandemic weakened consumer confidence. – Rappler.com
