Zsa Zsa, Eric reveal MVP paid for Dolphy’s hospital bills

MANILA, Philippines – Businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan shouldered the cost of Dolphy’s hospitalization at the Makati Medical Center, Zsa Zsa Padilla, the long-time partner of the late Comedy King, revealed on Saturday, July 14. 

“Binayaran lahat ni Manny Pangilinan ang hospital bills namin. Napakabait niya,” Padilla said in an interview on Startalk.

MVP, who is celebrating his birthday today, is chairman of Metro Pacific Investments Corp, owner of Makati Med.

Actor-director Eric Quizon, one of Dolphy’s sons, also expressed gratitude to Pangilinan in a separate interview on the same show.

“Happy birthday, Manny. Imbes na siya ang regaluhan natin, siya ang nagbigay sa amin ng regalo.” (Happy birthday, Manny. Instead of us giving him a gift, it was he who gave us one.)

“He took care of Daddy. Ang buong pamilya natin ay nagpapasalamat,” Quizon added. (Our whole family is thankful.)

When Dolphy was still confined at Makati Med, Pangilinan instructed the hospital’s president, Rose Montenegro, to make sure that “he is well taken care of and that all his medical needs are met with dispatch,” the Philippine Daily Inquirer quoted Pangilinan as saying.

In 2010, Dolphy was the first major actor to transfer to TV5, which Pangilinan also chairs. 

A year before that, the Comedy King was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which made it difficult for him to breathe and caused his pneumonia. 

He was confined at Makati Med for almost a month before he died due to multiple organ failure on July 10. – Rappler.com
