MANILA, Philippines – Were you one of the people who laughed and cried with best friends Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Kyle (Seth Rogen) in the movie 50/50? Fans of the 2011 film are in for a treat as the two actors are set to reunite for a new holiday movie.

The Hollywood Reporter (THR) reported that the duo is also set to reunite with 50/50 director Jonathan Levine. Levine also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming flick.

Gordon-Levitt announced the upcoming project on his Twitter account today, February 11.

THR adds that their upcoming movie will revolve around three childhood best friends who will reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve. Two of the best friends will be played by Gordon-Levitt and Rogen.

Several studios, including Sony, Universal and Paramount competed for the movie, but it was Sony that took home the rights.

The movie where the three first teamed up, 50/50, did well with critics in 2011, scoring 89% with top critics in movie review site Rotten Tomatoes. Film critic Roger Ebert gave it  4.5 out of 5 stars, noting that the film did not go “haywire with comic desperation” like most film comedies do.

Ebert said Director Jonathan Levine “established the characters with enough care that the audience is prepared when they reveal greater depth toward the end.”

Gordon-Levitt is also currently signed on to produce the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel The Sandman. Gordon-Levitt is also known for his roles in 500 Days of Summer in 2009, Inception in 2010, and The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.

Canadian comedian Seth Rogen has had many memorable roles over the years, including his work in Knocked Up (2007) with Katherine Heigl. He will appear in 2014’s Neighbors with Zac Efron.  – Rappler.com
