Playing this week: Mutants, one-night stands and evil spirits

MANILA, Philippines – Heading to the movies this week? Take your pick between a much-awaited sci-fi thriller, an unapologetically hilarious comedy and a chills-down-your-spine horror flick.

Based on a true story, this latest thriller promises moviegoers twice the evil and twice the horror. Starring Jillian Hall, Hannah Murray, and Dave Ryan Cole. Directed by Richard Ferguson. 

2. Walk of Shame

In this hilarious comedy directed by Steven Brill, one woman’s one-night stand takes a turn for the worse when she wakes up the morning after, lost, with no car. Forced to make it in time for an important interview, she has to make her way through the mean streets of LA in nothing but a yellow party dress and a pair of high heels. This flick stars Elizabeth Banks, James Marsden, Gillian Jacobs, and Sarah Wright.

3. X-Men: Days of Future Past

In this anticipated installment of the hit Marvel series, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the mutants find themselves on the brink of extinction in the year 2023.

To fight for survival, they must now fight the war across two time periods, bringing together characters from the original X-Men trilogy and their past selves from “X-Men: First Class” to change the past in the hopes of saving their future.

This latest installment is both a sequel to the recent X-Men films (The Last Stand and First Class) and a follow-up to the spin-off “Wolverine.” Starring Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
