Aravind Adiga's award-winning novel The White Tiger is set to come alive on the screen with a film adaptation starring Adarsh Gourav, Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The teaser trailer for the film was released on Thursday, October 28.
With sharpness and dark humor, The White Tiger captures the systemic inequalities in modern Indian society as it follows Balram Halwai (Adarsh), who narrates his journey from poor villager to successful entrepreneur.
The cunning Balram starts out as a driver for the wealthy Ashok (Rajkummar) and his wife Pinky (Priyanka), who have just returned from the United States. While serving them, he eventually realizes the traps the rich set for the poor to keep them from having a better life – and he ultimately manages to outwit the system – but not without cost.
The film was written for the screen and directed by Ramin Bahrani.
It is set to premiere on Netflix Philippines in January 2021. – Rappler.com
