WATCH: BTS channels The Beatles in ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’
The K-pop sensation pays tribute to The Beatles in the same theater where the Fab Four made their US television debut

MANILA, Philippines – When it comes to boy bands, global musical sensations, or any musical act, really, British rock group The Beatles is almost always the (very, very high) standard.

So it’s only fitting that Korean worldwide sensation BTS paid tribute to the Fab Four on Thursday, May 16 (late Wednesday, May 15 in the US), during a live performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, in the same theater where the British group made its US television debut decades back.

All 7 BTS members – RM, Jungkook, Jimin, Suga, V, Jin, and J-Hope donned suits similar to the ones John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison wore during The Ed Sullivan Show.

According to People, BTS and The Late Show collaborated to transform the historic Ed Sullivan Theater, where the show is recorded, to look the same way as it did back in February 1964. Colbert himself dressed up as the late Ed Sullivan. The audience was extra too – the live performance included cutaway shots of audience members in ’60s garb with signs akin from the Beatles live performance.

If the prep seems a bit much, know this: BTS is the first group since The Beatles to get 3 number 1 albums in less than a year.

Colbert, of course, also had a quick chat with the boys – during which they revealed that “Hey Jude” is among their favorite Beatles songs. Watch it here
