MANILA, Philippines – OPM fans can satisfy their music cravings even as they help victims of the calamity caused by Maring-Habagat.

Through the crowdsourcing project “Habagat Sounds,” backers are given access to a folder containing 96 songs donated by our country’s musicians.

For as low as P100, the music file features more than 50 artists, including Ely Buendia, Kjwan, Pedicab, Pin-Up Girls, Salbakuta, Ang Bandang Shirley, Flying Ipis, and many others.

“Habagat Sounds” aims to gather P50,000 by September 15. But as of this writing, the project is P2,300 closer to its goal, with 5% of the P50,000 gathered.

Backers will receive the same content and may choose to donate in denominations of P100, P500, or P1,000.

Aside from financial assistance, “Habagat Sounds” also calls on musicians, bands, and DJs to help supplement this compilation with their work.

The non-profit project by Artiste Connect was first launched to help victims of tropical depression Gener in 2008. This endeavor aims to support present and future victims of calamity.

Artiste Connect is a funding platform for writers, musicians, filmmakers, and other artists or artists’ groups who need financial support to start their projects. – Rappler.com
