WATCH: SB19’s Justin De Dios is Alex Bruce’s dream guy in ‘Yakap’ music video

SB19’s beloved bunso Justin de Dios is making an appearance in hip-hop ingenue Alex Bruce’s music video “Yakap,” which debuted on Friday, February 5.

The song is as innocent as a rap love song can get, and was inspired by the 14-year-old rapper’s crush – played in the video by Justin.

The music video takes us into the mind of a typical teenage girl with a crush as it shifts between scenes of Alex alone in her bedroom, and dream sequences where she has sweet, wholesome fun with the P-pop star.

“It’s a fun and creative concept,” Justin said. “I really like the fact that the MV showcases both the maangas (fierce) and cute sides of Alex.”

“I am really impressed with her skills. I wanted to introduce her to A’tin as she could be a source of inspiration for a lot of young dreamers too,” he said.

He shared that Alex was initially very shy, but as the shoot went on, they got along very well: “She’s an interesting kid, and we had a lot of fun talking to each other about random things. One thing I also noticed while working with her is how close she is to her parents. It’s very adorable!”

Alex shared that working with Justin was fun, especially because of his warmth and friendliness.

“I’m really into Korean dramas, and Justin somehow looked the part: innocently good-looking and very much charismatic. As a leading man, he really shone effortlessly in terms of acting, and gave us the kilig that we truly deserve,” she said.

The music video is as personal as it gets for Alex, whose artwork and Beanie Boo collection are featured in the video.

“I love owls, so there’s plenty of them in my shelf—as seen in the music video. I had a great time drawing and showcasing my artworks for the very first time. I hope it won’t be the last.”

Released in October 2020, “Yakap” was a 3-way collaboration featuring Alex, her Australia-based dad, and music producer Cursebox. – Rappler.com
