Billie Eilish to drop second album ‘Happier Than Ever’ in July

Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish announced via Instagram on Tuesday, April 27 (April 26 in the US) that her second full-length album Happier Than Ever will be released on July 30 in the US.

“MY NEW ALBUM Happier Than Ever OUT JULY 30TH!,” Eilish said in the caption.

“This is my favorite thing I’ve ever created and I am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. I can’t even tell you. I’ve never felt so much love for a project than I do for this one. Hope you feel what i feel.”

The 19-year old singer also announced that her newest single will be dropping on Thursday, April 29 in the US (around midnight, April 30 in the Philippines).

“Alsoooo new song out thursday at 9am pt too!! Pre-save/add/order nowwwww link in bio. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,” she wrote.

In an interview on Late Night with Stephen Colbert in February, Billie said that her upcoming album was recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown and that her music was inspired by the events of the past year. She said, however, that her songs aren’t necessarily about the pandemic.

“I don’t think I would’ve made the same album, or even the album at all, if it weren’t for COVID,” she said on the show.

“That doesn’t mean it’s about COVID at all, it’s just that, when things are different in your life, you’re different. That’s just how it is. So, I have to thank COVID for that, and that’s about it.”

Like her Grammy-sweeping debut album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? released in 2019, Happier Than Ever is written and produced with her brother and musical collaborator, Finneas. – with reports from Jewel Camacho/Rappler.com
