Jaya posts update on mom Elizabeth Ramsey’s medical condition

MANILA, Philippines – Singer Jaya said that her mom Elizabeth Ramsey’s condition is now stable after she was taken to the hospital last week.

In a Facebook post, Jaya clarified that her mom suffered a hyperglycemia attack and not a stroke.

“Praise God for His mercy. Mama Beth Ramsey did NOT have a stroke. Instead a seizure due to diabetes/hyperglycemia. She is moving and is recovering fast and communicates constantly. AYAW NA RAW NYA SA OSPITAL!!!  Thank you all very much for all the prayers. God bless you Mama and all of you who sent love and hugs!!! We love all of you,” she wrote.

In an interview with 24 Oras Weekend, Jaya shared more details, saying her mom had a seizure for about 3 hours. 

“Imaginin mo na ganyan ka, half of your body, including your head, maano ang oxygen mo… made-deplete ‘yan.

(Imagine that you look like that, half of your body, including your, your oxygen…it will deplete.)

Jaya said that when her mom suffered a seziure, they closely monitored her movements.

“Kasi pagod ka, e. Imagine 3 hours kang nagsi-seizure.”  Jaya said.

(Because you are tired. Imagine you have been suffering a seizure for 3 hours.)

Jaya admitted she almost lost hope when she saw her mom’s condition and at the same time, she was also preparing for what could happen.

Jaya shared that her mom is now recovering and is improving. “I heartfully thank everyone. So umpisahan natin doon dahil na-overwhelm talaga kami,” she said.  (Let’s start with that because we were really overwhelmed.)

Elizabeth Ramsey might possibly leave the ICU soon, but will remain in the hospital for observation. Jaya said that once her mom fully recovers, she wants her to stay with them. 

“I will make sure she is loved. Basta dito na siya sa akin titira (She will now stay at my house),”  Jaya said. – Rappler.com
