WATCH: Miss Universe mix-up parody at People’s Choice Awards 2016

MANILA, Philippines – Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe gaffe won’t be forgotten soon. Not only are people still talking about it, but they’re parodying the incident too.

At the People Choice Awards 2016 on Wednesday, January 6 (Thursday, January 7 in Manila), host Jane Lynch and comedian Thomas Lennon parodied Steve’s infamous winner announcement mix-up.

“This year’s People’s Choice Awards has picked one entertainer who for some reason has never won a People’s Choice Award, but who we believe is deserving of one,” explained Jane.

Jane announced that Thomas won the award, but interrupted him in the middle of his acceptance speech – “I’m sorry, I have to apologize here,” said Jane, echoing Steve’s apology at the Miss Universe 2015 coronation night.

“First runner-up is Tom Lennon. So sorry, man,” said Jane. “The winner is Miss Colombia!”

During the coronation night on December 20, Steve accidentally announced that Ariadna was Miss Universe instead of Pia Wurtzbach. He went back onstage after to apologize for his mistake.

Pia and Ariadna have since spoken about the issue. Pia said that she was happy to have won the title, as it took her 3 tries at the Binibining Pilipinas pageant before she could compete in Miss Universe and win. (WATCH: Pia Wurtzbach’s first interview as Miss Universe 2015)
