Maine Mendoza gets a kiss from Alden Richards on ‘Eat Bulaga’ birthday special

MANILA, Philippines – Maine Mendoza, Eat Bulaga‘s lovable Yaya Dub, turned 21 years old on Thursday, March 3 and celebrated with a grand event on Saturday, March 5.

During her birthday special, Maine thanked all the fans who have supported her from the beginning. 

“Hindi ako nagsasawang magpasalamat sa kanila. Sana po hindi kayo magsawang sumuporta,” she said.

During her birthday special, Maine performed for her fans.

 

The lolas Nidora, Tinidora, and Tidora also did a boogie number, while Maine’s fan clubs also performed a dance mash-up.

She also did a dance number with Alden Richards, who presented her gifts including a medallion, an artwork, notebook, and something he said he will be the one to take care of when she’s ready.

Maine thanked everyone during her birthday special. She also gave a message to her critics, days after her Instagram was restored. Maine’s Instagram account was hacked for the second time last February 24.

On Thursday, March 3, Maine, who was in Yaya Dub character during the Kalyeserye segment, was surprised by her lolas (grandmothers) Nidora, Tidora, and Tinidora with a small party complete with balloons, cake, and party hats. 

 

Nidora, Tinidora, and Tidora also surprised Maine, when they performed part of the song “Batang Bata Ka Pa.” Maine thanked the lolas for the song and the cake. 

 

Later on, Maine’s two friends from Bulacan dropped by to say their birthday wishes. The celebration would not be complete without Maine’s on-screen partner Alden Richards, who performed a surprise dance number. 

 

Alden then greeted Maine on her birthday, saying he was happy to be part of her first ever birthday on the show. The two also celebrated their 33rd weeksary as a tandem. 

“I’m happy I’m part of your birthday,” Alden.

Of course, the audience also asked Alden to greet Maine with a kiss, but the two protested, saying Lola Nidora was around. Nidora meanwhile told Maine: “birthday mo naman (It’s your birthday).”  

 

Alden kissed Maine on the hand.

Aside from the dance number, Alden also gave Maine a rose and a photo album of their pictures starting from the day they became a tandem on television. The episode of the show ends when Maine receives a call from her Daddy Dod.
