Surgery a success for Saab Magalona’s son

MANILA, Philippines – In what may be the best Mother’s Day gift ever, Saab Magalona’s son Pancho had a successful surgery on Friday, May 11, to remove a silicone catheter implanted under his scalp.

“Pancho’s surgery went very well,” Saab wrote as she shared a photo of a sleeping Pancho post-surgery. 

“Thank you so much to Dr Gap Legaspi and his team and to everybody who prayed for our sweetheart. Jim [Bacarro, her husband] and I love you.”

In an earlier post, Saab explained that the catheter, called an Ommaya Reservoir, helped relieve pressure on Pancho’s brain caused by a buildup of fluids.

See that little bump on Pancho’s head? That’s an Ommaya Reservoir, a small silicone catheter put under his scalp when he was just a few days old. The reservoir was periodically tapped to relieve pressure on his brain caused by the buildup of excess fluids. So thankful for everyone’s prayers because he no longer needs the reservoir. God is good! Pancho will be undergoing surgery to remove it this Friday, May 11, so we ask for more prayers please for Pancho and his amazing doctors

Saab gave birth to Pancho in February. Both mom and baby were placed under intensive care after the birth, as they lost Pancho’s twin sister, Luna. Pancho is Saab and Jim’s first baby. – Rappler.com
