MANILA, Philippines – In the Philippines, it’s not rare for the line between celebrity and politics to be oh so blurry. So it wasn’t a surprise that in the days leading to election day on Monday, May 13, local stars came out to boost local and national candidates’ bids.

Here are the celebrities and performers we spotted at the various mitings de avance of different coalitions, slates, and independent candidates in the 2019 elections. 

Otso Diretso thanksgiving concert on Wednesday, May 8

The Liberal Party-led coalition held their thanksgiving concert at UP Diliman, despite the strong rain.

Other performers during the event included Rhea Basco, Paraluman, Room for Cielo, Baon Collective, Jana Garcia, Better Days, Bayang Barrios, Bituin Escalante, Cooky Chua, Frankie Pangilinan, and Jam Pascual.

Artists who were on the set list but were unable to perform due to bad weather were Gracenote, Ebe Dancel, Autotelic, Imago, and Mark Ghosn.

Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s (HNP) miting de avance on Thursday, May 9

The miting de avance of the HNP party was held in Davao City on Thursday, May 9. 

Spotted were rapper Andrew E, as well as celebrities Robin Padilla, Cesar Montano, and Bayani Agbayani.

Grace Poe on Friday, May 10

Independent senatorial candidate Grace Poe held her miting de avance in Tondo, Manila.
