MANILA, Philippines – Actress Kylie Padilla has confirmed that she and GMA 7 leading man Aljur Abrenica have gone their separate ways, but what led to the break-up? 

In an interview with Heart Evangelista on Startalk, Saturday, May 31, the Adarna actress and daughter of action star Robin Padilla said it was Aljur who broke up with her when she was still in Australia.

“Kami pa nung bago ako umalis,” she said.

(We were still together before I left.)

“Pero may mga isyu na nangyari sa buhay ko noon na nakakaapekto na sa akin personally and then work-wise and my relationship as well. But it has nothing to do with a third party,” she added, referring to the speculations that her co-star Geoff Eigenmann was the reason of the break-up.

(But there were issues that already happened in my life that affected me personally and my work and my relationship as well. But it has nothing to do with a third party.)

Kylie said that people may have read into her closeness with Geoff, who is the second son of veteran actors Michael de Mesa and Gina Alajar. Geoff recently parted ways with longtime girlfriend, actress Carla Abellana.

As for the news of Aljur being linked to his co-star Louise delos Reyes, Kylie said that she prefers not to talk about it.

“Ayoko lang maalala kung paano nangyari yung break-up,” she said.

(I don’t want to remember how the break-up happened.)

“Nagalit ako kasi lahat ng effort na ginawa namin, nasira for something na hindi naman totoo.”

(I got angry because all the effort we did just got destroyed over something that wasn’t true.)

“Ewan ko bakit kailangang ganun yung nangyari. Nasayang sa walang-kuwentang dahilan,” she said, trying to hold back her tears.

(I don’t know why that happened. It was just wasted over a nonsense issue.)

Acknowledging that Aljur was her first love and heartbreak, Kylie said that she is turning to God to give her strength. She also said that they are not on speaking terms.

When asked what her message was to her ex-boyfriend, Kylie said:

“Ang daming galit sa kanya ngayon, at ang dami na ring nagsasabi sa akin na naapektuhan na rin siya.

“I just wanna say na be strong. Lahat naman tayo nagkakamali, even me. Sana may natutunan ka sa nangyari. Ako marami akong natutunan. Sana sa susunod, alagaan na natin ang mga future relationships natin. Love is supposed to be precious, not painful.”
