Robert Downey Jr says ‘Iron Man 4’ is happening

MANILA, Philippines – Robert Downey Jr has spoken about the fourth Iron Man movie on The Ellen DeGeneres show, as seen in the video published the show’s YouTube channel Tuesday, October 7 (October 8 in Manila). 

When asked, “Will there be a fourth Iron Man?” he at first gave a vague answer – “We’re in the middle of negotiation” – but answered “Okay, yes” when Ellen asked him to confirm. No release dates were revealed. 

When previously asked about the topic, he told Entertainment Weekly back in July: “It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” But he then added this: “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.”

Just last September, Robert told Variety, “No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.”

UPDATE: Later, Robert made a guest appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, but when asked when Iron Man 4 would be out, this is what he has to say:

“There’s no plans for an Iron Man 4…There is no script for Iron Man 4. They do have a plan and I think they’re going to announce it.”

Asked if he were going to make another Iron Man, he said: 

“Just between us, no. 

But, I’m going to do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s going to be plenty of fun stuff to happen.”

With all these different answers, who knows if Iron Man 4 is really on the way? 

In the Iron Man movies, Robert stars as genius billionaire businessman-turned-superhero Tony Stark, who battles modern villains via his own invention, the powerful Iron Man suit. 

He will appear in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, due for release in May 2015 in the USA. – Rappler.com
