Jerika Ejercito clarifies her comments about Kris Aquino
'I apologize for being inconsiderate and insensitive... but this does not mean it devalues my observation,' she says

MANILA, Philippines  After calling Kris Aquino a bully “who cannot handle the truth,” on Facebook, Jerika Ejercito said that apologizing to the star definitely isn’t out of the question.

In an interview with Pep, Jerika, who is the daughter of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada with Laarni Enriquez, said that she does not want to force things.

“Well, I just don’t want to create another monster by issuing an apology while it’s still fresh…

“People are saying I’m starved for attention when I’m not the one making a big deal out of my simple observation,” Jerika said.

Jerika said that while she should have been more sensitive, her statement was not a “character assasination” against Kris.

“It was not meant to be a character assassination… not even an opinion.

“I’m sure Ms. Kris Aquino is an amazing person and from what I hear, a loving friend to many.

“What I said was a mere observation that was blown out of proportion,” she said.

Jerika said she still stands by what she wrote.

“I apologize for being inconsiderate and insensitive and for voicing out my observation recklessly, but this does not mean it devalues my observation.

“Yes, I am grown enough to learn humility and I understand where my errors lie, but I am also grown enough to understand where my conviction lies… and I stand by what I said… obviously some can handle the truth while others can’t, such is life… truth does hurt.”

On the subject of her father apologizing to the TV host-actress, Jerika said: “Daddy is a true gentleman so I don’t expect any less from him.”

“We may have opposing views on certain things but, at the end of the day, we respect each other’s views and it doesn’t affect our personal relationship as father and daughter,” she said.

On February 4, Jerika shared a link of an article with the headline, “Kris Aquino defends brother, doesn’t seem to understand duties of the President.” In her post, Jerika said the TV host-actress “feels entitled to be brutally honest day in, day out…but obviously cannot handle the truth herself.”

On Saturday, Kris said that Erap called her up and apologized for his daughter’s statement

Kris’ brother, President Benigno Aquino III, was heavily criticized for his actions in reaction to the death of 44 police officers in Mamasapano, Maguindanao – particularly for his failure to attend the arrival honors for the fallen officers.

While Kris defended her brother, she  was not spared from the criticism, which led her to unfollow some of her celebrity friends for allegedly criticizing her brother on social media.

She later apologized to Ogie Alcasid and wife Regine Velasquez after a misunderstanding over the issue. She and actress Judy Ann Santos have also made peace with each other. (READ: PH celebrities mourn fallen PNP SAF officers)

Kris’ friends Derek Ramsay and John Lapus defended her, saying the Aquinos are good people and that the hurtful social media comments were unnecessary. – Rappler.com
