Lea Salonga says movie with Aga Muhlach will have to wait
Lea also talks about ‘The Voice Kids’ and haters

MANILA, Philippines – Broadway star and The Voice Kids judge Lea Salonga said that there are no plans yet for Lea and Aga Muhlach to reunite on the screen given her busy schedule.

“I have The Voice and I have a Broadway show, as in the day after the grand finals [of The Voice Kids] I leave for New York and start rehearsals,” Lea told reporters during the press conference of the show, Wednesday, June 3.

“Our finals is on August 29 and 30 and on August 31 I’m on a plane. So no movie this year. And I know people are clamoring for it but in the meantime and I’ll say this na rin, Sana Maulit Muli has been digitally restored,” Lea said of the movie she and Aga starred in back in 1995.

According to Lea, she and husband Robert Chien met up with Aga and wife Charlene Gonzales during the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight and shared that Charlene wants them to do the movie.

“Everybody was pigging out on junk food because Charlene made these nachos –fully loaded nachos and I think Luigi (Aga’s son) took a photo of it. So there was this fight and we were talking about the fight. I don’t know, but one of the last things Charlene said at the end of the day was ‘you guys, can you make this movie already?” Lea shared.

‘The Voice Kids’ and haters

For Season 2 of The Voice Kids of the Philippines, Lea said that she is very excited to show the new batch they have, saying they were very talented.

“They are all so much fun. It was just a really fun group of kids that we got our hands on this year. It is something that I think that once everyone gets to see the auditions air, there’s a lot of the audience that they we be able to watch for,” she said.

As for haters and negative criticism on the show, Lea said this time, she will not even think of giving them attention.

“I fought with a lot of people. Because you’re like, spoiling it for a lot of people who don’t want to know what is going on, and you’re doing it because you’re happy that people are miserable.

“Part of the fun is not knowing, the suspense because that’s why people have to sign a confidentiality agreement when they walk into that studio,” she said.

“It makes us frustrated because we want to make the experience for the audience as enjoyable as possible. So we keep our mouths shut, we tease. If we post on social media, we don’t reveal anything important. But there are people who revel in other people’s misery and to them, I say you must really have a sad, sad life,” Lea said.

Last season, Lea expressed her dismay on social media after finding out someone leaked the results of the show’s battle rounds taped in December 2014.

But for the second season of The Voice Kids, Lea said that the tech team of the show is closely monitoring all websites, social media accounts, and news related to the show to avoid any spoilers or leak of the show’s results.
