Comedian Arnell Ignacio engaged

MANILA, Philippines – Comedian and TV host Arnell Ignacio is engaged! He proposed to his boyfriend, singer Ken El Psalmer, last June 3. 

Arnell posted a message to Ken on his Facebook page after the proposal.

In an interview on Startalk, Arnell, 51 shared what he felt after proposing to Ken, 34.

“Ngayon ko lang naramdaman na para bang hindi ko na ma-contain ‘yung nararamdaman ko. So kailangan ko nang i-propose. At saka gusto niya ‘yung ganoon, may mga procedures siya ‘yung ganoon. Kailangan liligawan, may proposal,” Arnell said.

(It’s only now that I’m feeling like I can’t contain what I feel. So I needed to propose. And he likes those kinds of things, there are procedures, like that. You need to court, there’s a proposal.)

Ken said he was surprised about the proposal. 

“Sino ba naman ang hindi mabibigla sa lahat ng nangyayaring ito kasi sobrang bilis?” Ken said. “Magmula nung magkakilala kami siguro ilang beses pa lang kaming nagkahiwalay.”

(Who would not be surprised with what is happening, because everything’s happening so fast? From the moment we met, we’ve only been apart a few times.)

According to the interview, the two met in April. Arnell also manages Ken’s singing career.

Although they are now engaged, Arnell said they have yet to sit down and discuss all the plans. 

“Ang importante ay masaya ka sa tao, mahal mo siya. Hindi mo kailangan ng papers o kung ano man basta masaya kayo, everything will follow,” Ken said. 

(What’s important is the person is happy, that you love him. You do not need any papers or what for as long as both of you are happy, everything will follow.)

Arnell married ex-wife Frannie in 2004 but the two separated years after. Arnell currently co-hosts the show Solved na Solved on TV5. – Rappler.com
