IN PHOTOS: A look at new characters in ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’

MANILA, Philippines – We won’t get to see the full movie until January 2016, but the first photos of the new panda characters from the upcoming Kung Fu Panda 3 have been revealed. 

In Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), audiences discovered that his family might not all be gone. We meet his dad Li (voiced by Bryan Cranston) in the third movie. In the film, Li makes a promise to Po’s mom before she died that he would find Po.

In the days leading up to the film’s trailer debut, the official Kung Fu Panda Facebook page released a few photos. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rebel Wilson has bowed out of the movie, because the production schedule was extended. Kate Hudson will now voice Mei Mei, a female panda “romantically obsessed with Po.”

We also get a view of all the other pandas Po has never met before. 

And of course, our favorite gang is back:

Peace is threatened when the villain Kai makes his grand entrance. In a USA Today feature, Kai is described as a “menacing supernatural villain,” though we know very little about this character at this point.
