‘One Day At a Time’ returns for season 4
After its abrupt Netflix cancellation, Pop TV saves the day!

MANILA, Philippines – When Netflix abruptly canceled One Day At a Time in March after 3 seasons, fans, after an outcry, immediately prayed for a pick-up to their favorite show. Thankfully,  Pop TV comes to the rescue, renewing the comedy series for a 4th season.

CBS-owned cable network Pop TV will be behind the upcoming 13-episode season set for 2020.

“Three months ago, I was heartbroken with the news of our beloved One Day At A Time’s cancellation. Today, I’m overwhelmed with joy to know the Alvarez family will live on,” said executive producer Norman Lear in a statement, according to a Variety report.

“How amazing it is to be involved with this brilliant and culturally significant series that deals with important themes one minute, while making you laugh the next,” Pop TV president Brad Schwartz added.

One Day At a Time, starring Rita Moreno and Justina Machado, focuses on 3 generations of a Cuban-American family living in Los Angeles. Aside from its comedic charm, the show also tackles important issues such as LGBTQ+ representation, mental health, parenthood, and unconventional family units.

It first premiered on Netflix in January 2017. – Rappler.com
