Deciem founder announces company shutdown ‘until further notice’

MANILA, Philippines – “Revolution is coming. Every one of you who has been laughing at me will with certainty face criminal prosecution.”

It’s with these words that skincare industry disruptor and Deciem founder Brandon Truaxe announced the “shut down [of] all operations until further notice, which is about two months.”

“This is the final post of Deciem which we will shut down all operations until further notice, which is about two months. Please take me seriously,” said Truaxe in a post on the Deciem Instagram account. 

He added: “Almost everyone at Deciem has been involved in a major criminal activity which includes financial crimes and much other. You have no idea what a solider I’ve been for more than thirteen years.

“I’ve been made fun of, as a porn actor, and as a f**king drug dealer and everything, for thirteen years and it’s all ending now.”

Deciem is the mother brand of popular skincare brands like The Ordinary, Niod, and Hylamide. The Ordinary, in particular, has revolutionized the skincare industry by offering products that are relatively cheap but effective. 

Its star products include the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, its various acids, and retinol and retinoid concoctions. 

Truaxe has been notorious for making polarizing or controversial remarks on the Deciem social media accounts, which he himself controls. The Ordinary is not officially available in the Philippines through Deciem, but several resellers and stores have been distributing it.
