MANILA, Philippines – Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental 2014 Kris Tiffany Janson was emotional as she spoke to supporters and media at her send-off in Cubao, Quezon City, Wednesday, November 19.
“I want them to know that the Philippines is beautiful. That the Philippines is a paradise,” Kris said when asked what she will tell her fellow candidates at the Miss Intercontinental happening in Magdeburg, Germany in December.
Chatting with Rappler after the send-off, Kris said that not only does she want to make history by bringing home the crown for the country, but also make her late father proud. Kris’ father encouraged her to join beauty pageants, but he died before Kris joined Binibining Pilipinas.
“If my dad were here I still think it would be the same. I am doing this in memory of my dad, whether he is here or not for him and my family. I guess if my dad would be here, I would have more words of wisdom from him but I am very very grateful that my dad is my dad because he left me a lot of tips and advices on life,” she said.
Kris said that she is looking forward to experiencing new cultures and cuisines as well as checking out the airports she will be landing in.
Given a chance, Kris said she hopes to watch fellow beauty queen Yvethe Santiago and give her support at Miss Supranational coronation night in Poland, which will happen a day after Miss Intercontinental.
As for the pressure of being Binibining Pilipians’ first representative to the pageant, Kris said: “There will always be pressure, the pressure of having to set the bar really really high. It’s how I see life what life has for me. I just want to enjoy it and I will give everything in my all for the months of training with Binibini and everything. I hope everything will fall into place.”
The Miss Intercontinental pageant will be on December 4. – Rappler.com
