MANILA, Philippines – The second leg of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s homecoming parade was held at Araneta Center, Cubao on Monday, January 25. (IN PHOTOS: Pia Wurtzbach at grand homecoming parade)

When the parade ended at the Araneta Center, Pia gave a short speech.

“Grabe salamat talaga. Ngayon nararamdaman ko na talaga nandito na ako sa PIlipinas (Wow, thank you so much. Now I really feel that I am in the Philippines),” she said after thanking everyone for coming to see her.

“My goal was to bring back home the crown, and now we finally did it. I say ‘we’ because this is not my crown, this is our crown,” she continued later. “Para po ito sa inyo, para po ito sa Pilipinas (This is for you, this is for the Philippines).”

She also thanked Binibining Pilipinas and the oraganization’s chairperson, Stella Araneta, for organizing the parade.

Following a whole-day parade that passed through Manila and Makati, Pia headed to Novotel Manila Hotel to freshen up. Before Pia even got there, the streets of Cubao were already packed with people. (IN PHOTOS: Fans welcome Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach back home)

Later, boarded the same float that she did during the day. The float was all lit up for the nighttime parade, casting Pia in a warm glow.

Despite the taxing whole-day event, Pia maintained her smile and graciousness to the end. The beauty queen smiled and waved to as many fans as she could, as they screamed and chanted her name.

The night ended with a fireworks display, and as the audience clapped and cheered, Pia was whisked away. – Rappler.com
