The car manufacturer partners with the Department of Tourism to launch the Safe Trips campaign

The Department of Tourism is gearing up to revive tourism in the new normal. The department partnered with car brand Nissan to develop educational and promotional content on social media on how to safely and responsibly travel to local tourist destinations.

The joint project, signed on Thursday, November 5, is called the Safe Trips campaign. As local tourists remain rightfully wary of the risks in pandemic traveling, the campaign seeks to slowly encourage them to venture out once again but with safety in mind. The campaign will be promoting safety tips for land travel, social distancing guides, health protocols for visiting specific destinations, and constant updates on spots that have reopened for visitors.

Baguio City and Ilocos Norte are two locations that have reopened to Luzon residents, said tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.

While destinations are still very limited because of the necessary precautions for the coronavirus, the campaign seeks to be something that will educate the public on safe travels if and when more tourist locations do reopen in the future.

Like other industries, the campaign also seeks to promote ways in which local tourism can restart while observing measures that will prevent the spread of the virus.
