MANILA, Philippines – Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International 2019 Tyra Rae Goldman will be the country’s representative to Top Model of the World happening on January 24 in Egypt, the Mutya Pilipinas organization announced.
Tyra, who won Mutya Pilipinas, was unable to compete in the Miss Tourism International competition in Malaysia due to citizenship restrictions. Cyrille Payumo, Mutya Pilipinas 1st runner-up, took her place and won the title.
Tyra, 18, who is based in Cebu, told media on Friday, January 10, that she’s been preparing for the competition by training and getting pointers from fellow queen April Short, who recently competed in another modeling competition – World Top Model in Monaco last December.
She said adjusted her walk and make it more “fierce” for the competition. The competition is going to take place at the Meraki Resort in Hurghada.
“I am studying actually right now. We’re doing [a lot of ] research because I really want to know more [about Egypt]. Because mostly when I was in school, I was more focused on science rather than in history,” she said.
Tyra said she didn’t really feel bad, even if she was not allowed to compete in Miss Tourism International.
“For Cyrille, I believe being 1st runner-up you know she deserves the crown, the title. So as soon as I heard that she was competing, I am very happy because she did better,” she said.
Tyra left Sunday, January 12, for Egypt.
