Pangasinan holds first-ever night job fair
LINGAYEN, Philippines - The Pangasinan Provincial Government and Pangasinan Employment Services Office (PESO) conducted the first-ever Night Job Market on Labor Day, May 1, pledging to decrease unemployment and underemployment in the province.
The employment activity took place at the PESO office in Capitol Complex in Lingayen, Pangasinan as part of the Labor Day and Pista’y Dayat (Sea Festival) celebration.
In an interview with Rappler, PESO Manager Alex Ferrer said that the job fair was conducted at night to accommodate those who have work during during the day who don't have time to go on job fairs and unemployed Pangasinenses.
There were 3,000 job vacancies that were sent to the PESO by 5 overseas and 16 local companies.
Around 700 applicants attended the job fair. PESO is hopeful the applicants will be employed soon as nurses, doctors, industrial workers, and medical personnel in the Middle East and the Philippines.
“Kahit na 30% lang ng mga applicants ang ma-employ sa job fair na ito masaya na kami,” said Ferrer. (Even if 30% of the applicants get employment through this job fair, we will be pleased.)
Ferrer also assured the applicants that all of the overseas placement companies that took part in the job fair were all duly accredited and reputable. - Rappler.com
