#ThankYouTeacher: What is your message for your teacher?

MANILA, Philippines – Who is your favorite teacher? How did he or she contribute to the person you are today?

To many, teachers are more than mentors whom students meet at the classroom.

The story of Randy Halasan is an example of how teachers go beyond their basic duty to impart knowledge.

Driven by passion alone, Halasan taught at far-flung public elementary school in Davao and organized the indigenous Matigsalug tribe located in one of the farthest villages of the region. 

With the help of teacher Ran, the village, which used to be completely helpless, now has a bright future ahead.

For the first time in 8 years, the village witnessed an elementary graduation, made possible through the perseverance of Halasan.

In celebration of the National Teachers’ Day on Sunday, October 5, help us pay tribute to the heroism of teachers like Randy Halasan. Let us express gratitude to our everyday heroes who have been helping in molding the country’s future generation of leaders.
