Bicolanos offer masses for missing Robredo

MANILA, Philippines – Kababayans of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo are dedicating masses for his and his companions’ rescue on Sunday, August 19, after they were declared missing, following a plane crash off Masbate City on Saturday.

Masses were offered for Robredo’s safe return at churches in Naga City. In particular, simultaneous masses were held at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral, Immaculate Conception Parish Church, and the San Francisco Church.

Prayers are also being said for Robredo and the plane’s two pilots during all Sunday masses in the city. The 3 men have yet to be found.

Robredo’s supporters, relatives, and friends are still gathered at the secretary’s residence on Bulusan Street in Barangay Dayangdang in Naga.

Naga City Mayor John Bongat called on the city’s residents to pray for the interior chief’s safe return.

All 4 pm Sunday masses in all parishes in Albay province will be dedicated for Robredo and his two other companions, pilot Jessup Bahinting and co-pilot Kshitiz Chand.

“I ask every Albayano to pray for that miracle for Jesse Robredo and to storm the gates of heaven so every angel would descend to protect him,” Albay Gov Joey Salceda was quoted by the Philippine News Agency as saying. – Rappler.com
