Col Lysander Suerte, chief of the Army’s 1003rd infantry brigade, said that troops from the 60th infantry battalion were on security patrol when they engaged in a firefight with at least 50 members of the New People’s Army in Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod at around 12:30 noon.

Suerte said that 28-year old 1st Lt Arvin Quedding and Private First Class Alfe Caballes, 30, were killed in the clash.
