MANILA, Philippines – The Tawi-Tawi Philippine National Police has released photos of Europeans Ewold Horn, 52, and Lorenzo Vinciguerra, 47 who were abducted by armed men while birdwatching on Wednesday, February 1.

Horn is Dutch, while Vinciguerra is Swiss. They were accompanied by Filipino guide and photographer Ivan Sarenas, 32, who managed to escape from their kidnappers when he jumped out of the motorized pump boat they were on.

The 3, who had been in Panglima Sugala for 2 weeks before their abduction, were seized while birdwatching in Tawi-Tawi. Sarenas escaped when the pump boat was cruising the seas off Languyan town.

Tawi-Tawi Gov Sadikul Sahali had earlier said that police and military units have been deployed in Languyan town to pursue the suspects and their captives. They fled on foot after burning their pump boat, earlier reports said.

The governor is said to have dispatched emissaries to negotiate for the release of the captives. – Rappler.com
