Cops gun down riding-in-tandem robbers in Angeles City
ANGELES CITY, Philippines – Two armed robbers were killed in an alleged shootout with policemen in Anunas village at past midnight on Sunday, June 26.
Senior Supt. Sidney Villaflor, police officer-in-charge in Angeles City, said patrolling policemen caught the motorcycle-riding duo while robbing 2 teenagers at gunpoint in Villasol Subdivision around 12:10 am.
As the policemen were approaching the suspects, the armed robbers hurriedly sped off.
A chased ensued, with the policemen catching up with the suspects along Don Juico Avenue and ordering them to pullover.
But instead of pulling over, Villaflor said one of the robbers pulled a gun and pointed it to the policemen. The policemen then cut the path of the robbers, prompting the 2 to make a sudden stop and to fall to the ground.
The robbers allegedly aimed their handguns to the policemen, who fired successive shots and killed the suspects.
Chief Inspector Aris Gonzales of Police Station 4 said his men claimed they fired their guns “to avoid further harm to the lawmen and to motorists” passing by.
Police found near the robbers’ bodies two .38 revolvers handguns without serial numbers – one was loaded with 4 live bullets, and the other with 3 live bullets. Six more bullets were found from the sling bag of one of the slain suspects.
The iPhone 6 taken by the robbers from the teenagers was also recovered.
Gonzales said the one driving the motorcycle was identified as Jay Ayson Cayanan The other robber is yet to be identified. – Rappler.com
