Nancy Binay won’t get free ride in dad’s bailiwick

This is the University of Makati, considered Binay country.

Thanks to the generous funding from City Hall, Makati residents get college education for P1,000 per semester.

Here, candidates of the United Nationalist Alliance are hoping to win the students’ support.

In an event organized by radio station DZRH, they explain their platform and stand on controversial issues.

Yung tiwala at pagmamahal na iniukol ninyo kay dating Mayor Jejomar Binay na ngayon ay Pangalawang Pangulo ng Republika, sa tingin ko naman dahil magkakasama kami sa UNA ay pwede ninyong ipagkaloob sa amin.

Kung sinasabi po ni PNoy na gusto niya ng kandidato na Daang Matuwid. Ako na siguro ang pwede ninyo sabihin na sumusunod sa ‘Daang Matuwid.’

Students were most interested in Nancy Binay, daughter of Makati’s political patriarch Vice President Jejomar Binay.

She is the least experienced of the Binay siblings. She has no track record. Why is she the one running?

Nakita po ni Cong Toby na pumapasok po ako sa survey so kinausap niya po ang aking ama. Ang sagot sa kanya, ‘Hindi pwede’. Kinausap ni Cong toby yung dalawa at unanimous nagdesisyon ang dalawa na gusto ako pumalit kay Joey de Venecia

Hindi ko ho kino-consider ang sarili ko na walang experience sa politika. Habang Mayor ang aking ina, ako po ang kaniyang personal assistant. Ngayon pong Vice President ang aking ama, ako din po ang kaniyag kasama. Ang kulang na lang sa akin titulo e.

Students of the University of Makati are thankful to the Binays but they tell Rappler they will use the campaign period to scrutinize Nancy as much as they will other candidates.

Napansin ko po sa bawat mga sagot niya, ang tanging binabanggit niya yung pangalan ng mga magulang niya. Kung wala po ba ang magulang niya, may posibilidad po ba siyang manalo?

STUDENT 2

We have to scrutinize or assess different senators and other candiates first before saying the final ‘Yes’.
