Roads closed due to Typhoon Ompong

MANILA, Philippines (5th UPDATE) – Many national roads and bridges were closed to traffic in regions hit by Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut).

Here is a list of closed roads and bridges, based on reports by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other government agencies as of 12 pm on Sunday, September 16.

Cagayan Valley Region

• Section of national road in Batan Island – Closed
• Itawes Overflow Bridge along Cagayan-Apayao Road in Piat, Cagayan – Still underwater. “Barricades and warning signs were placed to warn the travelling public,” said DPWH on Friday, September 14.
• Peñablanca Callao Cave Road in Cagayan – Closed due to fallen debris
• Cabagan-Santa Maria Bridge – Still underwater
• Sections of NRJ Villa Sur-San Pedro-Cabuaan-Ysmael-Disimungal Road in Quirino – Closed
• San Pedro Overflow Bridge – Closed to traffic due to high water elevation

Cordillera Administrative Region

• Kennon Road – Closed
• Sections of Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road – Closed
• Sections of Halsema Highway or Baguio-Bontoc Road – Closed
• Baguio-Bontoc Road, intermittent section along Chackchakan, Gonogon, Malitep and Palinga-aw – Opened to traffic

• Naguilian Road or Baguio-Bauang Road in Benguet – Now open to traffic
