MANILA, Philippines – Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona granted live TV interviews from morning to evening of Wednesday, March 7, with the embattled magistrate addressing issues from his impeachment to an alleged mistress.

In an interview on TV5’s Aksyon newscast, Corona bared his feelings on rumors about his alleged extramarital affairs. He referred to a viral e-mail that accuses him of keeping “another” family in the United States, and giving them up to P200-M for household and other expenses.

“Noong binuksan ko ang e-mail ko at nakita ko nga ‘yan, ako’y na-amuse, more of amused than angry,” Corona said. (When I opened my e-mail and saw that, I was amused, more of amused than angry.)

He said his wife Cristina also received the e-mail on his supposed mistress.

“Parang nagkibit-balikat lang siya… kasi alam naman ng wife ko na hindi naman totoo ‘yon, at ako rin naman, alam ko naman na hindi totoo ‘yon,” Corona said. (She just shrugged it off… because my wife knows that it’s not true, and I also know it’s not.)

Earlier during the day, Corona guested on GMA-7 morning news programs and addressed similar issues. 

In an interview on GMA-7’s Unang Hirit, Corona said Philippine Savings Bank-Katipunan itself could have been the source of his leaked bank documents.

In another interview on GMA News TV’s News To Go, the Chief Justice criticized his fellow magistrates, SC Associate Justice Ma Lourdes Sereno and Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.

Corona also granted an interview to ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol.
