Parents charged for kids’ death in motorcycle crash
The police chief of Batac City in Ilocos Norte says a case is being filed against the parents of one of the two kids as they knowingly let the minors use the motorcycle

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – The police in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, took a different tack by charging the parents of one of the two minors who died after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a dump truck two weeks ago.

The city prosecutor filed the cases against the parents of the kids, who are playmates from Quiling Norte and who died in the grisly collision in Barangay Magnuang on May 24.

The police has already filed a case against 34-year-old truck driver Allan Steven Bartolome for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide.

Batac City Police Chief Major Allan Emerson Dauz said that the two minors were speeding and got into Bartolome’s lane. But the two kids got the bum deal so much that there were protests when the photos were shown by a local radio.

Dauz said the city prosecutor decided to file a case against the parents of one of the two kids as they knowingly let the minors use the motorcycle.

The fact that they did not hide the keys was also noted.

According to Dauz, the parents said they did not know that the kids took the bike for a ride that eventually became their last. – Rappler.com
