The New Clark City Athletes’ Village, which holds some 520 beds, continued to serve as a quarantine facility. It started funcitoning as such last February.

Meanwhile, floating quarantine hospitals holding some 700 beds were set up by the Department of Transportation.

Nograles earlier said the following sites will also be used as quarantine facilities:

The following were also being eyed as quarantine facilities:

  • Veterans Memorial Medical Center complex
  • Las Piñas Rehabilitation Center
  • South Harbor Passenger Terminal Building

In a press briefing on Friday, April 3, BCDA President and chief executive officer Vince Dizon said the cost of setting up the quarantine facilities were shouldered by private partners.

Apart from this, other quarantine sites identified by Dizon were the following:

  • Food Terminal Inc in Taguig City
  • Filinvest Tent in Muntinlupa City

Dizon said the Iglesia ni Cristo’s Philippine Arena in Bulacan will also be converted into a quarantine facility. Duterte’s report to Congress said the site can hold some 300 beds.

How it will work: Hospital architect Daniel Lichauco, who designed the setup of national quarantine facilities, said health protocols will be in place in all sites.

This includes specified areas for donning and doffing of personal protective equipment, an enclosed nurses’ station, and air locks for areas where patients will be situated.

The facilities will also have air conditioning, free electricity, free food, and free wifi – all to be shouldered by private partners.

Lichauco said quarantine facilities where mild to moderate coronavirus patients are treated are located near hospitals to facilitate the patients’ transfer in case their condition becomes severe.

Galvez earlier said the government plans to isolate confirmed patients and patients under investigation (PUI) for the novel coronavirus by mid-April. – with reports from Sofia Tomacruz, JC Gotinga, and Beatrice Go/Rappler.com
