First Solo trip to Ocean’s deepest point

For the first time in history a man has gone solo into the depth of the Challenge Deep in the Mariana Trench, the ocean’s deepest point. The man is none other than Avatar, and Titanic Director James Cameron. Riding a state-of-the-art submersible vessel that took 7 years to build Cameron went down 35,756 feed below the ocean’s surface to take 3D video footage and collect samples. Cameron described the area as “a very lunar, very desolate place.”
