MANILA, Philippines – A town vice-mayor in Zamboanga Sibugay was shot dead, while his wife was wounded after unidentified men attacked them in Ipil town, late Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011.

According to a report from the Zamboanga Sibugay police, Siay town vice-mayor Carlito Bayawa was alighting from his vehicle to withdraw money from an automated teller machine (ATM) in Barangay Poblacion in Ipil around 5:20pm, when two men on board a motorcycle, opened fire at them.
