Military operations against the renegade Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters have been extended until Sunday. This was even after the troops captured the rebels’ training camp and bomb-making facility in Maguindanao province. Fifty two BIFF members and one soldier have been killed in the clashes. A human rights group in Mindanao has appealed for a stop to gov’t offensive, which has displaced 4,000 people in the area, while the visiting British foreign affairs secretary has called on Filipinos to rally behind the peace agreement.
