MANILA, Philippines – A flashflood hit Valencia City in Bukidnon during the daytime Tuesday, Dec 27, 2011. Houses have reportedly been destroyed along the Pulangui River.
Sketchy reports indicate that the Pulangi Dam located in Valencia and Malaybalay has overflowed. The dam holds the Pulangi River. As of last night, at least 10 houses were reported damaged.
Valencia, which consists of 31 barangays, is at the heart of Mindanao. It lies southeast of Cagayan de Oro, which was recently ravaged by Tropical Storm Sendong.
The city is said to be generally wet throughout the year and normally experiences a short and slight dry spell during the month of December, although it gets rains in the latter half of the year. Valencia is outside the typhoon belt.
No reports of casualties have been reported thus far. – Rappler.com
