Another soldier burned in Fort Bonifacio blast dies
MANILA, Phiippines – Another soldier hurt in the fire that broke out last week at the Explosives and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) headquarters of the Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio died Tuesday, May 13.
Master Sergeant Ferdinand Rapal, 51, died at the East Avenue Medical Center, according to Philippine Army chief Lieutenant General Hernando Carmelo Iriberri.
About 80% of Rapal's body was burned in the blast. He was among those who were in critical condition.
He is the second soldier to die from the blast. Corporal Bernabe Mota, 30, died at the V. Luna Medical Center in Quezon City 2 days after the May 7 fire.
The Philippine Army has created a Board of Inquiry to investigate the blast. Based on the schedule, the probe should be completed by May 18.
EOD is a unit of the Army Support Command (ASCOM). Iriberri has ordered its transfer to Camp Aquino in Tarlac province. – Rappler.com
