Corona, family should testify – prosecution

MANILA, Philippines – The House prosecution panel asked the Senate on Thursday, January 12, to summon Chief Justice Renato Corona and his family to his impeachment trial, and require them to bring documents on their properties and tax payments.

 

The Senate was requested to order the appearance of Corona and the following members of his family during the trial on January 16, Monday:

1. Cristina, his wife

2. Carla Corona-Castillo, his daughter

3. Francis, his son

4. Charina, his daughter

5. Constantino Castillo III, his son-in-law

 

Aside from testifying at the trial, Corona and his family were required to bring with them certain documents on their various properties.

 

These include all transfer certificates of title and condominium certificates of title of several properties registered under their names in Makati, Paranaque, Pasay, Marikina, Taguig, and Quezon Cities. Also included in the request for subpoena are the deeds of absolute sale, deeds of conditional sale, deeds of donation, and other documents related to the properties.

 

The Coronas were also asked to bring copies of their income tax returns from 1991 to 2011.

 

On Wednesday, Corona asked the Senate to summon lawmakers who signed and did not sign the impeachment complaint against him.

 

The Senate, convening as an impeachment court, begins the Corona trial on Monday. – Rappler.com
