College student found raped, dead in Negros Occidental
Police say Marrisa Parreño, 16, was found dead just half an hour after she left her house for school

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines – The body of a 16-year-old college student, who appeared to have been raped, was found at a creek near her house at Barangay Bubog in Talisay City on Thursday, June 25.

Police identified the victim as Marrisa Parreño, a first year business administration student at Silay Institute. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.

Senior Police Officer 2 Marlin Necesario, chief of the Talisay City Police Women and Children Protection Desk, said the victim was found dead at the creek by Rodolfo Dizon at around 9:30 am. The victim had left their house for school at 9 am.

The victim was still wearing her uniform when she was discovered, but her underwear and skirt were already taken off.

Necesario confirmed the victim was raped by her unidentified assailants, as she cited the result of the medical exam. “There was laceration.”

She said that witnesses saw 3 men – one wearing a bonnet while the two had their faces covered with a shirt – in the area before the incident.

She said that they have no leads yet as to the identity of the suspects.

She said they are still waiting for the result of the autopsy report to determine the cause of the victim’s death.

Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, has directed his men to be on “top of the situation to solve this case.”

This is a second rape-slay case involving college students in the province in recent weeks.

On May 14, 19-year-old Shella Condes was found naked and tied-up at a sugarcane field in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City. She was allegedly raped and killed by pedicab driver Ricardo Ewayan, who is now detained at Bureau of Jail Management and Penology here. Rappler.com
