
Thirteen people, including children, died after a sports utility vehicle plunged into an irrigation canal on Sunday afternoon, April 18, in Barangay Bulo, Tabuk City in Kalinga.
According to police, at around 6 pm Sunday, a Ford Everest with plate number AAK 9180 driven by female police officer Soy Lope Agtulao fell into an irrigation canal at Barangay Bulo.
The black SUV was on its way to Bulo Lake, a popular tourist spot in the city, when it swerved and fell.
According to the Kalinga provincial government, rescuers brought 12 of the 15 passengers to the Kalinga Gabriela Mija Kim Medical Center, but they were declared dead on arrival.
The three other passengers were brought to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, where one was declared dead.
Two passengers survived the car crash: Edith Perez and Cyril Agtulao.
Kalinga Governor Ferdinand Tubban instructed the local social welfare department to assist the family of the victims. – Rappler.com
