The Manila Police District says Executive Master Sergeant Reynante Dipasupil arrived at the MPD headquarters and 'indiscriminately' fired his gun

Two cops were killed, including the suspect, in a shootout late Friday night, June 25, inside the headquarters of the Manila Police District (MPD).

According to the MPD, Police Executive Master Sergeant Reynante Dipasupil, who was allegedly drunk, appeared at the headquarters at around 11:30 pm on Friday, and “indiscriminately” fired his gun.

The police said that the MPD Special Weapons and Tactics team exchanged gunfire with the suspect.

Two cops were hit by the suspect. They were Staff Sergeant Reynaldo Cordova and Master Sergeant Romeo Cantal.

Cordova and Cantal were brought to the Manila Medical Center. However, Cantal succumbed to his wound at 3:10 am on Saturday, June 26, while undergoing operation.

Dispasupil, meanwhile, was brought to Manila Doctors Hospitals but was pronounced dead at 12:46 am on Saturday.

MPD Director Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco ordered an investigation into the matter. Security deployment at the MPD headquarters is currently on full red alert while the probe was ongoing.

Francisco said that the victims would be provided full assistance, while all station commanders were advised to monitor the mental health and welfare of their men. – Aika Rey/Rappler.com
